So I Took a Vacation from You Nutcases…

…and I missed you terribly. Well, not terribly, because I was onย vacation, but I did miss you. I’m glad to be back into the swing of things.

I’m sure you’re all sitting on the edges of your computer chairs wondering: where did Katrina go? What did she do? Did she run into anyone famous?

This vacation’s destination was the fun and sunny:

St. Augustine, to be exact.

I’d never been, and getting a beach house with a pool (hello, double water and sun) sounded A-okay with me.

I spent all but one day doing this:

Reading by the Pool

But my husband and I did go into Old Town, which was a blast to walk through. And I dragged him to:

The Fountain of Youth Sign

Yes, I did drink from it. So I’m going to live forever now. Don’t act so excited–I know there’s envy in your heart.

An added bonus? There were peacocks–one of my favorite animals–everywhere. I decided they were the unofficial mascot of The Fountain of Youth, and then went insane chasing them and taking pictures:

And there were even white ones!

Overall, it was an incredibly relaxing vacation filled with books, tons of kitschy stuff I wanted to buy, loads of peacocks, and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.

I’ll leave you with one such sunrise (the only one I got a picture of):

Oh, and I didn’t run into any celebrities. Sorry to disappoint!

What about y’all?ย Where are you going for spring/summer vacation?

That is just the best kinda vacation, Katrina. Give the laptop a miss and put your feet up with a book. And of course a few peacocks thrown into the mixture and a cocktail (surely enough!). I hope no peacocks were harmed in the making of this post ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have been busy with a move and as a result been devouring books that I had to give away. I read some four in a week. Felt fantastic.

OMG! I visited St Augustine with Jesse and my sis back in 2008… Jesse skipped the fountain of youth and stayed at the tavern with all the pirates and drinkers… And we both thought he didnยดt miss much! Funny to hear about you chasing peacocks, a male peacock who was in his mating endavours has been reported to die of stress in the Pyrenees this week, supposedly harrassed by tourists.

I may have been exaggerating a little bit when I said I was chasing the peacocks. But that’s really terrible about the one that died.

A farm near where I live used to have peacocks. The sight of strutting males (with come-hither tails) more than compensated for their raucous calls.

Right?! I had no idea they sounded so terrible.

Maybe those sharing FL with U were mellower than those sharing a NY farm with cows.

Awesome! Great to hear. It’s lovely to decompress and be able to come back with a full tank so to speak. Then again, the place you stayed at seemed really nice! It’s great to see you solve the mystery of the fountain of youth. Maybe next vaca you can solve the one about vampires next! Muahahahaha.

Be well!
